Based on the fact that planet Earth is home of countless civilizations and states, we can believe that a legend is born out of nothing. Some races and tribes existed and sometimes disappeared without a trace. Here, you will read an article in which some important points are known about the great civilization Atlantis, which people never stopped searching for in the depths of time.

“... first of all, let's remember that it is said that 9000 years have passed since the war between the tribes living inside the columns of Heracles and those living outside. Now I will tell you this; on the one hand it was our city that held the command, and on the other hand, the kings of the island of Atlantis who led the war. That island, which, as we have said, is bigger than Libya, but as a result of ground earthquakes, it was submerged in water and remained a heap of mud, preventing the passage of ships that sail from here.”

You have read a chapter from the famous Greek philosopher Plato's book called Kritias. In this work, Plato tells us the effort of the magnificent island kingdom of Atlantis to seize Athens. While Plato repeats the same words in his work called Timeaus, he adds that the wise Solo, who lived 200 years before him, told them and he heard the story of the Atlantis continent from the Egyptian priests at that time.

The philosopher also explained that Atlantis was a civilization on a giant continent, that it was located between Egypt, Libya and the Adriatic, consisting of two large islands and ten big cities. Metropolis was the capital and City of Kings was the second largest city of Atlantis. Allegedly, the “Metropolis” was on the island of Santorini, which is the subject of our article, and the City of Kings was on the current island of Crete.

Unfortunately, Plato's texts have not survived to the present day. There is nothing but a few fragments of inscriptions at hand. There are no answers to our questions such as how much of it is true or what was in all of it, but the Legend of the lost continent of Atlantis is one of the most curious subjects of humanity for centuries. There are various theories; Just as Atlantis is in the Caribbean, in the Bermuda region, or south of the Indian Ocean, or in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean just outside the Strait of Gibraltar. In 1995, a Turkish scientist suggested that Atlantis was found in Mesopotamia. That was nice. Scientists with endless horizons could come out of us, too. Especially after seeing the tourism potential that Greek scientists created in Santorini by supporting the myth of Atlantis to death.

I can’t know which one is right but the first of these claims that concern us is the island of Santorini, with its original name "Thera". Because Thera attracted Jacques Yves Cousteau and his famous ship Calypso, to herself. Of course, it is not the purpose of this article to discuss whether Santorini is Terra Island. This thesis has already become the national tourism cause of Greece, but much more importantly, it is the right of humanity to wonder about its past.  I’m sure it had been what Cousteau was after. And the claims seem to be gaining more force, with sources, excavations, and conclusions drawn from the famous diver's research.

Giant Wave of 200 meters

When I looked at Santorini in the morning, I was speechless against the magnificent view of the island. When you look from the hillside hotel where I stayed, you can almost see a bird's-eye view of an endless sea-moon shaped land.

Santorini is a moon-shaped island, opposite it is another island that closes the semicircle of the moon. In the middle is a small island. Here is the crater of the famous Thera volcano in question. The name of the island is “Nea Kameni”. The Greeks keep calling the islands old and new because every now and then the volcano would roar and the islands would sink and new islands would emerge from elsewhere. We all went into the sea here, but to an interesting place, our guide said, in some parts of the water towards the shore, the temperature rose above 40 degrees, indeed it was. It seems that there is a giant pit in the middle, namely the main crater of Thera volcano, in real giant dimensions, an unbelievable size, something terrifying.

Sources state that Thera made its big eruption in 1500 BC. In this burst out, two-thirds of the island was disintegrated in a circle with a diameter of 33.5 km and buried at a depth of 300 meters, while the largest volcanic eruption known in history. The recent eruption of the Krakatoa Volcano took place in Java and about 837.5 trillion cubic meters of seawater was mobilized in this eruption. Experts state that approximately 41875 trillion cubic meters of seawater in Thera was mobilized by the eruption. This means that after the Krakatoa explosion, Tsunami wave of 100 meter height was formed. The height of the Tsunami wave formed in Thera was over 210 meters. It is stated that when this wave reached Crete Island, its height could have decreased to only 70 meters.  It is estimated that the height of the same wave was at least 30 meters when hitting the shores of Marmaris and Datça.

What If Poseidon and Hades Awaken?

After leaving the island of Nea Kameni, that is, climbing right into the heart of the crater of the volcano for half an hour, you feel the stirring under your feet and the deadly vibration of that hidden power while watching the indigo blue sea of ​​Aegean.  Especially when you see the smoldering rifts and galleries right next to you, smelling of sulfur.

You must add going to Santorini and to feel the power greater than thousands of hydrogen bombs stirring under your feet to your list to do in lifetime. We worked hard and pulled a few stones out of one of those crevices, which was too hot to touch at the time. Now we look at the stone and dream, 11000 years ago,  whether a citizen of the country of Atlantis have stepped on this stone.

Strange but true, there is no other place like this in the world, you will not only being on a living volcano that will be assumed to be the center of the legendary Atlantis, but also you will enjoy the sea and seafood. Of course, the most important issue that, Atlantis, a magnificent civilization according to the legends, reached the universal secrets. They angered the Gods by not using these secrets for the right purposes. When Poseidon and Hades united, the Thera volcano exploded and giant waves crushed Atlantis.

Is ATLANTIS Real?

Where is this Atlantis? According to one rumor, it is in the Atlantic Ocean, midway between Europe and Bermuda, another claim is under the hot sands of the Sahara. In the North Sea, Mesopotamia etc. All of these are claims, but after all, there is a legend and the only concrete source is what Plato wrote. After Greek seismologist and geophysicist Professor Angelos George Galamopoulos, and British Archeology editor Edward Bacon interpreted Plato, put forward the Santorini theory based on the soundings made by British underwater experts. According to the theory, Atlantis was a state of ten islands, including Crete. About 3500 years ago, there was a great earthquake in the Aegean Sea, and it was this earthquake that destroyed Atlantis. Indeed, the gigantic pit particularly evident in Santorini is indicative of this ancient disaster. Of course, there are exaggerations in Plato's accounts because according to the estimates, a possible period of 11000 years has passed between the Atlantis disaster and the period when Plato lived, and what has happened changed as long as told someone else. According to Galanopoulas, Plato's description of the location of Atlantis as the "Pillars of Hercules" outside the new Strait of Gibraltar is an exaggeration of the mystical understanding of the period, namely a giant state in a giant ocean. As a result, parts of the Aegean Islands, especially Santorini, really bear the traces of such a geological disaster. Therefore, this approach is perhaps more consistent than any other approach. Atlantis, which was told by Plato that she had an advanced civilization thousands of years ago, was told by the philosopher Solon. Solon had got all the information about Atlantis from the Egyptian priests. It is noteworthy that the legend that Solon was the grandfather of Plato's uncle, Critas, reached the Aegean coast. The famous submarine expert Cousteau also conducted research on Santorini and found many remains under the sea, but it has not yet been proven that they may be leftovers from Atlantis. Maybe future research can solve the mystery of Atlantis, if it is not buried in the depths of time and nature gives us this time...

DONELLY’S ATLANTIS

Author and researcher Ignatius Donnelly is considered one of the world's most respected experts on Atlantis, and his book "Atlantis, Antediluvian World" is an important source. Donnelly summarizes Atlantis in a few articles.

• Apart from the Strait of Gibraltar, there was Atlantis Island in the Atlantic Ocean, which was left behind from the Atlantea Continent long ago.
• Plato's writings are fact, not fantasy or fiction. Germanic Legends, Hittite Tablets, Egyptian papyri, and Medinet Habu inscriptions speak of the destruction of Atlantis. The Aztecs believed that their homeland was the Aztlan continent. The Spaniards, who first set foot in Venezuela, encountered a tribe called Atlan, who said that their ancestors had drowned in the waters.
• The place where civilization first emerged is Atlantis. (Which is now leaving its place to other theories these days. For example, the Göbeklitepe ruins take us even older times, by me as author ot the article.)
• Atlantis civilization spread to the Gulf of Mexico, the mouth of the Mississippi River, the coasts of the Amazon and South America, the Mediterranean, the western coasts of Europe and Africa, and the Baltic Sea.
• Places such as the Gardens of Eden, Eden Paradise, Elizium, Mount Olympus mentioned in ancient sources actually symbolize the gardens and mountains of Atlantis.
• The gods and goddesses of all ancient myths and legends (Greek, Phoenician, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Indian and Scandinavian) are the king-queens and sages of Atlantis. Their lives were later mythologized.
• The mythology and religions of Egypt, Central America, and Peru are based on the worship of the Sun. This is belief. It is due to Atlantis' use of solar energy. The Atlanteans even benefited from solar energy for health by using crystals. Sun worship later arose out of ignorance.
• Atlantis' first colony is Egypt, and it is a copy of Ancient Egypt Atlantis.
• The ones who first processed iron mine were Atlanteans and they brought the Bronze Age to Europe.
• The Phoenician Alphabet, which is the basis of the European alphabets, is the Atlantean Alphabet.
• The origins of Aryan Indo-European and Semitic Races are Atlantis.
• Atlantis Island was sunk into the sea as a result of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. The reason of the natural activities are claimed to upset the balance of nature.
• The survivors described the disaster wherever they went, and thousands of years later, the Flood Legend was included in the myths of all humanity and even in religious books.
