As of November 2022, Turkey became one of the 'ballistic missile exporter' countries. The first missile exported in this area was the KHAN Ballistic Missile developed by Roketsan.

Roketsan is one of the leading companies that put skin on developing Turkish Defence Systems and empower Turkish Armed Forces. These intensified efforts also provide export income to the country.

Roketsan, Turkey's leading technology company working in the field of smart ammunition, entered the list of "The World's Top 100 Defense Industry Companies" as a result of its successful export activities in 2021. However, the company's export performance in 2022 indicates that it will go further in the list.

It is known by everyone that the MAM-L, MAM-C and MAM-T ammunition used by SİHAs stand out in Roketsan's product range. These munitions were exported to nearly 30 countries together with the national SİHA platforms. However, besides this; The company also has a large product range in the field of surface-to-ground missiles, cruise and anti-ship missiles, guidance kits, air defense missiles, anti-tank missiles, torpedoes, space systems and ballistic protection solutions.

MAM- L (Mini Akıllı Mühimmat) : Mini Intelligent Ammunition [MAM-L], with its low weight, was developed for unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV], light attack aircraft and airborne missions. MAM-L has high accuracy and efficiency with its alternative warheads against fixed and moving targets.

MAM-C (Mini Akıllı Mühimmat)  Mini Intelligent Ammunition [MAM-C] has been developed for low weight unmanned aerial vehicles [UAV], light attack aircraft and air-ground missions where weight is critical. MAM-C has high shooting sensitivity against fixed and moving targets.

MAM-T (Mini Akıllı Mühimmat)  Mini Intelligent Ammunition [MAM-T  ] was developed for unmanned aerial vehicles and light attack aircraft for use in critical air/ground missions. With its fixed wing structure and improved warhead, MAM-T provides the user with high strike precision and efficiency against fixed and mobile targets at longer ranges.

We already know that Indonesia had ordered KHAN Ground to Ground Mıssile System and Middle and High Altitude Air Deffense Missiles during Indo Defense Fair. With this success, Türkiye showed its first export success in the tactical ballistic missile and air defense missile field. On the other hand, it looks like the first customer of ATMACA will be Indonesia. Although such exports are not usually disclosed due to the clauses in the contracts. So maybe Roketsan exported these products to other countries, but we may not know. However, what we know for sure for now is that Turkey is increasing its export activities in the field of precision-guided munitions day by day.

KHAN Ballistic Missile System

As it is known, the BORA Ballistic Missile is currently one of the longest-range munitions of the Turkish Armed Forces. Official authorities had previously announced the completion of the BORA Missile deliveries. However, BORA also has an export version. Its name is KHAN. KHAN has a range of 280 kilometers just like BORA. Missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers in the international arena are called "Tactical Ballistic Missiles (TBM)". KHAN was the first ballistic missile exported by Türkiye, if ignored the TRG-300 and TRG-230. So what are the features of this missile?

The missile is launched from the Roketsan-manufactured BORA Weapon System 8×8 Tactical Wheeled Vehicle and the Roketsan Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher Weapon System. It can also be launched from other Tactical Wheeled Vehicle platforms with an interface suitable for integration in line with user needs. In addition to the missile launch vehicles, within the battery structure; There are also different components such as command control vehicle, ammunition supply vehicle and logistics support vehicle.

With the KHAN Missile, it is aimed to hit high priority targets such as radar positions, assembly areas, critical facilities, artillery and air defense systems. In fact, with its warhead of 470 kilograms, BORA can be thrown into the desired area like a wrench on the battlefield. Precise navigation is of course essential for this.

The deviation value of the system from the target decreases to 10 meters when the Global Positioning System and Inertial Navigation System are used. Considering that the warhead is 470 kilograms, it can be said to be a pretty good value.
